Today we celebrate 3 May Constitution Day, which commemorates the enactment of the Polish Constitution that came into effect on 3 May 1791.

On this date in Warsaw, the sejm of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth adopted the document which was the second written constitution in the world and the first in Europe. It culminated nearly half a century struggle and attempts to reform and restore the country.

Dziś obchodzimy Święto Konstytucji 3 Maja, upamiętniające uchwalenie Konstytucji RP, która weszła w życie 3 maja 1791 r. W tym dniu sejm Rzeczypospolitej Obojga Narodów w Warszawie uchwalił dokument, który był drugą taką spisaną konstytucją na świecie a pierwszą w Europie. Zwieńczyła ona prawie półwieczną walkę i próby reformy oraz odbudowy kraju.
