This year's congress took on a special significance as it paid tribute to the Polish Museum of America, an institution dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage and cherished traditions of the Polish-American community.
One of PMA’s remarkable achievements is the preservation of historical documents related to Polish theater in Chicago. Within its archives lies evidence of Chicago's first documented Polish theater event in 1891, along with a treasure trove of documents, programs, memories, and posters from the heyday when Chicago boasted 14 Polish professional theaters in the early 20th century.
The 5th Polish Theater Congress was an occasion to express deep gratitude to the dedicated management, employees, and volunteers of the Polish Museum of America. 24 września 2023 V Kongres Teatru Polskiego w Chicago zgromadził miłośników polskiego teatru i kultury na niezapomnianym wydarzeniu w Muzeum Polskim w Ameryce. Tegoroczny Kongres nabrał szczególnego znaczenia, gdyż był hołdem złożonym Muzeum Polskiemu w Ameryce, instytucji zajmującej się ochroną i promocją bogatego dziedzictwa kulturowego i pielęgnowanych tradycji społeczności polonijnej.
Jednym z niezwykłych osiągnięć MPA jest konserwacja dokumentów historycznych związanych z polskim teatrem w Chicago. W naszych archiwach znajdują się dowody pierwszego udokumentowanego polskiego wydarzenia teatralnego w Chicago, które miało miejsce w 1891 r., a także skarbnica dokumentów, programów, wspomnień i plakatów z czasów świetności, kiedy w Chicago na początku XX wieku działało 14 polskich teatrów zawodowych.
V Kongres Teatru Polskiego był okazją do wyrażenia głębokiej wdzięczności oddanej kierownictwu, pracownikom i wolontariuszom Muzeum Polskiego w Ameryce.
