During the annual Pulaski Day Commemoration on March 4, 2019 at the Polish Museum of America, President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, awarded state distinctions to the president and three employees of Polish Museum of America. On behalf of the President of the Republic of Poland the presentation of awards was performed by the Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, Minister Adam Kwiatkowski. Based on Article 138 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland and the law on awards and distinctions by virtue of order of the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda, the award is for exceptional contribution to the development of Polish-American cooperation in the field of museums, for dissemination of knowledge about Poland and activities undertaken for Polish diaspora in the United States of America. Richard Owsiany, President; Małgorzata Kot, Managing Director and Jan Loryś, historian, were awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland; and Halina Misterka, PMA Head Archivist the Knight’s Cross of the order of merit of the Republic of Poland.
Dnia 4 marca 2019 roku, podczas stanowych obchodów Dnia Pułaskiego Prezydent Rzeczypospolitej Pan Andrzej Duda nadał odznaczenia państwowe prezesowi i pracownikom Muzeum Polskiego w Ameryce. W imieniu Prezydenta Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej aktu dekoracji dokonał Sekretarz Stanu w Kancelarii Prezydenta Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej Minister Adam Kwiatkowski. Na podstawie art. 138 Konstytucji Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej oraz ustawy o orderach i odznaczeniach postanowieniem Prezydenta Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej Pana Andrzeja Dudy za wybitne zasługi w rozwijaniu polsko-amerykańskiej współpracy w dziedzinie muzealnictwa, za upowszechnianie wiedzy o Polsce oraz działalność na rzecz środowiska polonijnego w Stanach Zjednoczonych Ameryki odznaczeni zostali Krzyżem Oficerskim Orderu Zasługi Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej Ryszard Owsiany, prezes; Małgorzata Kot, dyrektor zarządzająca i Jan Loryś, historyk; natomiast Krzyżem Kawalerskim Orderu Zasługi Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej Halina Misterka, kierownik Archiwum MPA.
