A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us at the Polish Museum of America on March 9, 2024, for an unforgettable journey back in time commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Battles of Falaise and Arnhem!
Highlights of the Event:
Educational Presentation: Members of the 10th Dragoons Regiment skillfully brought to life the Battle of Falaise and the Battle of Arnhem, allowing us to relive the bravery and determination of Polish military formations. The historical lesson provided a deeper understanding of the battles, historical context, and the pivotal roles played by Polish soldiers and included the presentation of the authentic equipment, uniforms, and artifacts that transported us back in time.
The presentation concerned:
Battle of Falaise (August 1944): General Maczek's 1st Armored Division, known as the "Black Devils," showcased their strategic brilliance, contributing significantly to the success of the Allied troops' landing in Normandy.
Battle of Arnhem (September 1944): General Sosabowski's Independent Parachute Brigade's heroic efforts to break the front in the Netherlands highlighted the crucial objectives of capturing key bridges and creating a base for operations.
We were also pleased that the students from Maria Skłodowska Curie Polish School joined us at the PMA during the event. The students not only explored our exhibitions guided by our talented team, but they also had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich history of the Battles of Falaise and Arnhem.
A special thank you to all the history enthusiasts, students, and families who attended, contributing to the success of this event. Your presence and enthusiasm in learning about the history of these battles made the commemoration truly special.

Prezentacja edukacyjna: Członkowie 10. Pułku Dragonów umiejętnie ożywili bitwę pod Falaise i bitwę pod Arnhem, pozwalając nam na nowo przeżyć waleczność i determinację polskich formacji wojskowych. Lekcja historyczna umożliwiła głębsze zrozumienie bitew, kontekstu historycznego i kluczowych ról, jakie odegrali polscy żołnierze, a także obejmowała prezentację autentycznego wyposażenia, mundurów i artefaktów, które przeniosły nas w przeszłość.
Prezentacja dotyczyła:
Bitwa pod Falaise (sierpień 1944): 1. Dywizja Pancerna generała Maczka, znana jako „Czarne Diabły”, pokazała swoją strategiczną błyskotliwość, znacząco przyczyniając się do powodzenia lądowania wojsk alianckich w Normandii.
Bitwa pod Arnhem (wrzesień 1944): Bohaterskie wysiłki Samodzielnej Brygady Spadochronowej generała Sosabowskiego, mające na celu przełamanie frontu w Holandii, umożliwiły zdobycie kluczowych mostów i stworzenie bazy operacyjnej.
Miło nam było również, że podczas wydarzenia w Muzeum Polskim w Ameryce dołączyli do nas uczniowie Szkoły Polskiej im. Marii Skłodowskiej Curie. Uczniowie nie tylko zwiedzali nasze wystawy pod okiem naszego utalentowanego zespołu, ale mieli także okazję zanurzyć się w bogatej historii bitew pod Falaise i Arnhem.
Dziękujemy wszystkim miłośnikom historii, uczniom i rodzinom, które przyczyniły się do powodzenia tego wydarzenia. Wasza obecność i entuzjazm w poznawaniu historii tych bitew sprawiły, że obchody były naprawdę wyjątkowe.
