#OnThisDay, April 30, 1939 - 150 anniversary of the oath given by the first US President George Washington - the New York World's Fair officially opened. US President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Albert Einstein presided the ceremonies. The Polish Pavilion, which opened on May 3rd – on the 148th anniversary of proclamation of the Polish Constitution - featured 11,000 artifacts, presenting Poland's rich history, artistic accomplishments, and ambitions for the future. 44 million people visited the fair.

Due to the outbreak of #WWII very few artifacts presented at the Polish Pavilion returned to Poland. The Polish Museum of America holds an impressive collection of objects from the Fair. Visit us and tour these priceless exhibits today.
