November 6, 2020, is the 160th anniversary of the birth of Ignacy Jan Paderewski, pianist, composer, Polish independence activist, and statesman. It is also the 79th anniversary of the opening of the permanent exhibit of the Paderewski Room at the Polish Museum of America (PMA). Halina Misterka, Head Archivist of the PMA, shares the story about the last year of I. J. Paderewski's life, his trip to the United States, and the historical circumstance leading to the donation of Paderewski’s memorabilia and personal effects to the PMA in this first of a two-part video.
