Theodore Modra, an accomplished artist who studied in Paris and Munich, immigrated to the United States in 1887. He honed his craft at the Art Students League of New York with the renowned American artist Robert Henri. Modra's journey led him to the East Coast until he settled in southern California in 1915, leaving an indelible mark on the art scene.
The "Portrait of Jane" is an oil painting measuring 28 x 20 inches, with a period frame that adds to its timeless charm. This masterpiece was generously donated by Stanley Cuba, former Assistant to the President of The Kosciuszko Foundation in New York, and his wife Ewa Cuba. The donation is a heartfelt tribute to Frank and Wanda Kugaczewska Cuba, and we are immensely grateful for their enduring support.
